If you’re going to go electric, then you might as well do it right. The 2017 Bolt did that by delivering a battery that can get more than 200 miles on one charge, which is far more than the average American drives in a day. That improved range and the reasonable price tag makes it a great way for people to finally make the switch from gas-guzzling traditional car to a more economical and stylish vehicle.
Mark Reuss, the head of global product development at GM explained how the Bolt came into existence:
“We didn’t have all the answers when we started the program—in terms of how far we were going to get range-wise, how light are we going to get the car, and … sell price,” he said. “We hit on all cylinders on this, so to speak, even though there’s not any in the car.”
